Tkaniny drapane Teaseled fabrics

TRANS-TEX offers also teaseled fabrics – flannel or molton. They are characterized by a teaseled surface (nap) on one or on both sides. Traditional flannel is usually associated with working shirts for men, which are still in fashion, also popular among women. The fashion is cyclical, as proved by plaid flannel shirts.

We offer traditional flannel in two widths and various colours. Apart from the clothing industry, also other sectors order flannel, using it in cleaning abrasives (high absorbability) and in polishing discs (high softness).

Teaseled fabrics – multipurpose flannel

There are two types of flannel by composition:

  • cotton flannel – the most common and popular. Made of 100% cotton fibres in weights 160 to 180 g/m2 and widths 160 or 220 cm. May be teaseled on both sides or on one side. In its basic form (non-teaseled, smooth cotton fabrics) cotton is a cooling material, not suitable for autumn and winter seasons. Flannel, however, featuring the fibrous surface produced by teaseling and combing of fibres (hence teaseled), obtains thermal insulation properties and is suitable for all-year-round clothing. Extremely delicate to the skin, with high hygroscopic properties, most often used in hygienic mats and ecologic multiple-use diapers for babies. Due to the high degree of humidity adsorption, natural composition and washing at high temperatures, flannel makes an ideal base for bed sheets, bed sets and pajamas for men and women. Another, more interesting industry that utilizes molton in pieces is entertainment. It may be used to line walls, as an acoustic screen, and (due to marginal transparency) as curtains and all sorts of covers in theatres and similar places. In addition, molton is given flame retardant properties;
  • wool flannel – much less popular than cotton flannel, but classy and with excellent properties. The best wool flannel is made of merino wool, which is perfect for sensitive skin, offers great thermal insulation (it keeps warm even when wet) and is perhaps the only wool that is suitable for all-year-round clothing. Wool molton is a refined fabric used in making elegant outerwear: jackets, coats, trousers, skirts, and dresses. In order to keep its elegance, it is dyed in solid colours, pinstripes or delicate plaid patterns.
