Cotton diagonal fabric
Diagonal fabric – a material featuring a clear transversal wave in the form of stripes, significantly clearer on the right side. Diagonal weave is elastic in both directions. Such elasticity can be further enhanced by the addition of elastic fibres in various compositions.
Depending on the use of various types of fibres and production processes, diagonal fabric may have stripes more or less pronounced, and therefore visible, on both sides. This significantly affects the decorative properties of the material and its applications. A clearly projecting weave may lead to discomfort in clothing made from such fabric, but it will make a great material for decorative curtains, throws or pillows.
Cotton diagonal fabric – not only work clothes
Regardless of composition, diagonal fabric features a very tight weave producing no gaps even when the fabric is extended.
Diagonal fabrics may be made using various fibres or their blends, depending on type and purpose:
- viscose diagonal – viscose fibres are best combined with polyamide or polyester, which improves the strength of finished products and reduces their susceptibility to crumpling. Good material for outerwear, such as jackets, dresses, skirts, as well as curtains and other interior decoration items;
- wool diagonal – wool fibres are mostly combined with polyester fibres. The addition of synthetic fibres significantly improves wool resistance to tear and crumpling, which makes finished products look much cleaner. Wool diagonal is suitable for smart jackets, skirts, dresses, throws and decorative pillows;
- cotton diagonal – cotton is a strong fibre that has high hygroscopic properties and highlights structural patterns; in addition, finished products with high cotton content are easy in treatment and care. Ideal material for protective and work clothing, but also (depending on thickness) for light coats, jackets, skirts, dresses, curtains and all interior decoration items.
